Inter: Campioni della Coppa Italia

First trophy down, two to go, and a whole lot more on the horizon. To quote Mourinho “Inter have now made the step up” and indeed they have. Inter is among the really big teams and has proved italian football is among the best in the world. Skeptics can no longer say italian football is below english or spanish football. Inter is back on the big scene, and well deserved it is indeed, and we got Mourinho to thank for it…

However, for the first time, Mourinho is himself implying he might make the move away from the San Siro. Although news reports prior to this week, media have implied he will move. Whilst these have all been empty speculations, they are not so empty any longer, at least not in my opinion. He have, after yesterdays win, won all domestic trophies in every country he have coached in. He have by accomplishing this, reached (what I interpret as) his goal. Although he still want to win the scudetto and Champions League, they are not as important to him any longer. He have yet again proved he is “the special one”, an entity who just cant seem to fail. His success is tangible and why would he want to stay and risk future failures with a team which, thanks to him, is already in the top tier of european football? He has already reached heroic status…Well, we can only speculate. Personally, i believe he’ll move to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, but yet again, it’s only speculation and hopefully as empty as previous media “announcements”.

Forza Inter per sempre!

Inter v Atalanta 3-1

Very entertaining game. Inter fell behind in the 5th minute after Titibocci’s early opener. Milito responded by skillfully lobbing the ball over the Atalanta goalkeeper. Both Chivu and Mariga scored their first goal in the nerazurri shirt. First goal for Chivu in 4 years. Congratulations Chivu! Arnautovic was subbed in the 80th minute and made a promising impression.

Inter back at the top of the table! Now lets await tomorrows game between Roma and Sampdoria and hope that Inter is still on top tomorrow night.

Muntari, Inter material or not?

Muntari came to inter as the “best” alternative when Mourinho failed to persuade Lampard (rather failed to persuade his wife according to rumors) to join the nerazurri. In my opinion, he haven’t proven his worth for the team, except as a benchwarmer. The only thing he’s really good at is loosing possession. Mariga already looks like a better alternative than the Ghana midfielder from Portsmouth. It’s not unreasonable to think that the arrival of Mariga is intended to push Muntari from the starting XI and ultimately the club.

Since the arrival of Pandev, Inter opened up for a 4-3-3, with Zanetti, Sneijder and Cambiasso on midfield; Etoó, Pandev and Milito on top, there is even less room for a player like Sulley Muntari. If we need more in attack just substitute Balotelli, and substitute Mariga for defense. We really should sell him as soon as the Summer transfers open up, or what do you think?

Probable Formations for Tonight Champions League Clash…

…according to tuttumercato

DINAMO KYEV (4-3-3): Bogush; Eremenko, Almeida, Khacheridi, Magrao; Yussuf, Ninkovic, Vukojevic,; Shevchenko, Milevsky, Yarmolenko.

INTER (4-3-1-2): Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu; Zanetti, Cambiasso, Stankovic; Snejider; Eto’o, Milito

Pretty much the strongest formation Inter Milan has to offer, at least considering that Tiago Motta have been away for a while and is probably out of form. It’s always possible to move Zanetti down in the field in expense for Christian Chivu and substitute Motta if a stronger offensive is required.

This is an important match for us insteristas! FORZA NERAZURRI!

Mourinho name squad for Dynamo clash

APPIANO GENTILE - José Mourinho has named a squad of 25 players (4 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 9 midfielders and 4 strikers) for Wednesday evening’s UEFA Champions League Group F match against Dynamo Kiev at the Valeriy Lobanovskiy Stadium (kick-off 20:45CET):

Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 21 Paolo Orlandoni, 51 Vid Belec.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, 4 Javier Zanetti, 6 Lucio, 13 Maicon, 23 Marco Materazzi, 25 Walter Samuel, 26 Cristian Chivu, 39 Davide Santon.

Midfielders: 5 Dejan Stankovic, 7 Ricardo Quaresma, 8 Thiago Motta, 10 Wesley Sneijder, 11 Sulley Muntari, 14 Patrick Vieira, 15 Rene Krhin, 19 Esteban Cambiasso, 30 Mancini.

Strikers: 9 Samuel Eto’o, 18 David Suazo, 22 Diego Milito, 45 Mario Balotelli.

Goals from Milito and Maicon in the second half gave Inter a 2-0 victory over Livorno on Armando Picchi. An important away win for Inter that increases our lead over Serie A title rivals Juventus with 7 points. An important lead considering the the hard upcoming matches in Champions League.

Forza Nerazurri
